"No Chris Left Behind" (Peter vs. Giant Chicken Fight Sequence)
ACTION, COMEDY
The ultra-violent Chicken Fight saga has been a running gag on Family Guy for 25 years. It was my honor to storyboard two of the brawl's early installments: Fight #2 in "Blind Ambition" (Season Four) and Fight #3 here (Season Five). FOX submitted both storyboards for award consideration. This one won, twice!

I was one of the original writer-directors on the first season of SpongeBob SquarePants at Nickelodeon. "Jellyfishing" was only the third-ever episode to go into production and helped establish the tone of the series. Below is my original production half-inch tape, to give you the full 90s VHS viewing experience.

LeBron retrains the Tune Squad on basketball fundamentals, getting them back into fighting shape (it has been 25 years since their last game, after all). Choreographing the Heroes vs Villains scrimmage game was a labor of love, vindication that absorbing a steady diet of WB cartoons was not a wasted youth.

Pam confronts Guy over the destructive weapon he's built the Zooks to use against the Yooks. She's on a mission to dismantle it, not realizing Guy's already in the process of taking it apart himself. It's a comedy of errors as they stumble over each other unknowingly trying to achieve the same goal. Hoo boy...

Ep. 321 - "Father's Day Hoedown" (Seq. 14)
ACTION
The hallmark of a kids action show like Firebuds is typically a big dramatic firefighting/rescue sequence in the third act, followed by a life lesson learned. Here, father and son vehicles work together to extinguish a raging fire whirl, healing family rifts in the process. Helicopters have feelings too ya' know.

Knowledge is Power! My third-year CalArts film teaches kids politically correct grammar, sung to the infectious melody of "Interjections". This is the earliest known Schoolhouse Rock parody, predating subsequent spoofs from The Simpsons, SNL, Mad TV, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and countless others by several years.
